Open Ladies Discussion Group, “Break the Silence”

On the last Friday of the month at Cassandra Centre in Norbury, London SW16 there’s an Open Ladies Discussion Group called, “Break the Silence” where young women aged 18 plus, and older women too, meet up to discuss and share their experiences around Domestic Violence and Abuse.  The group was set up in July 2019 by a very brave young mum to help other young mums like herself, talk about the fate that they’ve suffered.  She is beginning to turn her life around for herself and her children, and she’s calling on other women to join the group so they can get some help to turn their lives around too.

The words on the flyer are a reminder to her of what she’s experienced and these words are generally used by partners or husbands to beat down and humiliate women.  Please contact Cassandra Centre if you would like to join in the discussion on the last Friday of the month from 5 to 7 pm, and together we can “Break the Silence.”

Cassandra Centre’s new Lunch Club

Our next Lunch Club will be taking place once again at Harlow Hall, Stanford Road, Norbury SW16 on Friday 30th August at 2.00 pm.  Local elderly residents and other family members and their friends are welcome to attend to enjoy a meal, a chat with friends and other familiar faces. We plan to have a few activities before and after the lunch so come prepared to have some fun and a laugh too.  The cost is £5 and you are invited to arrive from 11.00 am onwards and be with us until around 3.oo pm.  So we hope to see you all there.

Mayor of Croydon visits Cassandra Centre’s Lunch Club

The Worshipful The Mayor of Croydon, Cllr Humayan Kabir will be visiting the new Cassandra Lunch Club held at Harlow Hall, Stanford Road on Friday 30th August at 2 pm.  The Mayor will attend our lucheon club which has recently started during the Summer holidays, and if there’s time, he might also visit our Centre which is not very far away at 1433a London Road, above Llyods Bank.

This will be a nice opportunity to see the Mayor out in the local community attending an event where older people will be enjoying a meal and socialising with other local people.  Croydon has an estimated 10,000 older people who are lonely and about half of these elderly folk experience intense loneliness.  The Mayor’s visit will be a pleasant surprise for those attending and a chance for some of Norbury’s residents to meet and chat with him.

Monthly Men’s Focus Group

On the first Wednesday of the month at Cassandra Centre in Norbury, we hold a monthly Men’s Health and Well-Being Focus Group for males aged 18 years + where individuals get a chance to meet and discuss specific issues that need talking about.  Participants can analyse their thoughts and feelings and get help or advice in a safe and confidential open forum.  We’ll be happy to welcome you to the group, so have a look at this flyer for more information and please contact us to book yourself a place.
